Sam Fletcher
Sam Fletcher has two musical directions: Weaving timeless melodies of folk and country or fronting his feel good rock band, the Sam Fletcher Band. In both settings, Sam is a musical story teller with the belief that authenticity is the heart of great music. Through skilful acoustic guitar, banjo and smooth vocals, Sam’s solo performance creates a rich tapestry of narrative and emotion. Meanwhile, his band show is characterised by singing guitar riffs as Rolling Stones roots are infused with Sam’s distinctive and fresh ‘surf’ vibe. Sam is honoured to be the senior category 2024 NSW Folk Federation Young Folk Artist of the Year.

Tree troll.

I like to imagine that in this photo you have stumbled upon a troll in the forest, but to your surprise, the troll is quite handsome, and is about to offer you a cup of camomile tea.

Sam Fletcher - Little Village

Little Village

19 May 2023
“Curious yet hopeful, ‘Little Village’ was written at a time when I felt less confident about my place in this world.” - Sam Fletcher
Sam wrote ‘Little Village’ with themes of personal exploration and growth at the forefront, thoughtfully intertwined within a recount of community, friends, and growing up in the small coastal town of Congo.
During the turbulent transition from the naivety of childhood, through adolescence to a more complex adult world, Sam notes being inspired by the diversity in our individual human experiences. The final line in the chorus asks the existential question, “Is my place in this Universe meant to be?”
“At A Sharp Studio, producer/engineer Matt Stewart and I were experimenting and trying to capture these old school tones I had envisaged in my mind.” - Sam Fletcher
Little Village was sonically influenced by old blues and soul styles. The track features Sam’s vocals and acoustic guitar, Russell Fletcher on bass and electric guitar and Tim Geldens on drums.

Sam Fletcher - West Of The Mountains

West Of The Mountains

Released October 2023
"West Of The Mountains" is Sam Fletcher’s sophomore EP. The collection features an alt-country title track, singer-songwriter ballads Little Village and Winter Leaves, and a nod to his rock roots with Keep An Ember and The Storm.
The EP marks an evolution in Sam’s songwriting story, as he explores themes of personal growth and development, the transition from childhood to adulthood, and navigating relationships.
The title track of the EP follows the journey of a young man on his quest to find existential answers. When our protagonist takes a chance at finding love, only to face the pains of rejection, he must learn to find peace in presence and contentment within himself. The result of this emotional exploration is a coming of age soundtrack, effusive with motifs of starry-eyed youth, first loves and heart ache.
